Antwerp lawyer wins jury prize in Advocaat.be photo competition
In an impressive victory, lawyer An Scheers, associated with the Antwerp Bar Association, won the coveted jury prize in the Advocaat.be photo competition. The photo series entitled "Through the lens of a juvenile lawyer" convinced the jury with its unique perspective and profound story, winning Mr Scheers the prize.
Mr Scheers' photo was unanimously chosen by the expert jury, consisting of such renowned names as photographer Johan Van der Hasselt of the Klikfabrik, specialising in corporate photography, photographer Lieven Blancquaert, photographer Renee Lorie, and Mr Anke Reussens, the winner of the previous edition.
The award-winning photo series stood out for its beautiful light and exquisite composition, inviting the audience to an in-depth look behind the scenes of the work of a youth lawyer. The set offers a fascinating insight into the world of the justice system and invites the viewer to look beyond the surface.
As a reward for her impressive achievement, Mr Scheers will receive a Canon PowerShot G7 X Mark III, a high-end camera worth over 800 euros. The award highlights not only the winner's artistic prowess, but also Advocaat.be's recognition of the importance of creativity within the legal community.

The jury of the Advocaat.be press prize has selected 'The Hijacking of Pompeii' as the winner. Second and third place go to De Coke Lijnen, a series by Lars Bové and Piet Depuydt in the newspaper De Tijd, and De zaak Carlo, a Panoreportage (VRT) by journalist Dirk Leestmans, director Jeremy De Ryckere and cameraman Stijn De Moor.

16 lawyers scrapped in 2022-2023
The College of Supervision of the Flemish Legal Profession has published its fourth report. This provides an overview of disciplinary proceedings against lawyers in Flanders (including Brussels-Dutch) in the judicial year running from 1 September 2022 to 31 August 2023.
