What is second-line legal assistance?
This is the legal name for pro bono. The term pro bono is used to mean that a lawyer helps a client free of charge or for a limited fee. Whether the lawyer does this for free or minimal fee depends on your livelihood. A lawyer can help you with this.
In second-line legal assistance, as for a paying client, the lawyer provides full and accurate legal advice, assistance and representation, whether in the context of proceedings or not.
What is the difference between a free lawyer and free help?

Are you looking for free help for a problem? If so, you can turn to several agencies for an initial answer. You can turn to first-line assistance for a quick answer to a practical problem. You can turn to a pro bono lawyer if you do not have enough income and still like to call on a lawyer.
Free legal help
Sometimes you find yourself with a small question and just don't know what to do. This is when you can turn to first-line assistance, also known as Free Advocacy Advice, in your neighbourhood.
Free lawyer
Access to law and justice are human rights. Everyone is therefore entitled to these. If your income is (too) low, this right is jeopardised. Therefore, in such a case, you can appeal to a lawyer (partially or totally) free of charge. This is called a pro bono lawyer. As with any lawyer, your lawyer will provide legal advice, assistance and representation. The latter is also paid by the government, so you should not worry about money to pay a lawyer.
