Advocaat.be launches Press Prize 2026: €7,500 for strong journalism on justice

Journalists can submit their work for the triennial Press Prize of Advocaat.be until 7 November 2025. The prize, good for €7,500, awards a journalistic production that brings law and the workings of justice to the attention of the general public in a clear, accessible and quality manner.

Justice in clear view

The Press Prize of Advocaat.be aims to contribute to a better social understanding of justice. The prize is awarded every three years to a journalist or editor who succeeds in translating complex legal topics accurately and comprehensibly to the general public.

Eligible productions must have appeared between 1 July 2022 and 30 June 2025, and may take any form: written articles, audiovisual reports, podcasts or online publications, etc. Publications in trade journals or media aimed at legal professionals are not eligible.

Independent jury with solid expertise

The entries will be judged by an independent jury with a strong feel for both the journalistic and legal worlds:

  • Nadia Van Baelen, director at Advocaat.be

  • Prof. Benjamin De Cleen, professor & lecturer communication sciences (VUB)

  • Linda De Win, former journalist (VRT)

  • Sara Vercauteren, (crisis) communication expert

  • Charlotte Michils, general secretary of the Flemish Association of Journalists (VVJ)

The winner will be announced Monday, 26 January 2026.
