Since 1 September 2025, anyone in Belgium can submit his/her conflicts in civil, corporate and social matters to the Chamber for Amicable Settlement (KMS). The KMS is an alternative to a traditional court case. Here, parties solve problems by talking to each other. The judge guides the conversation, but you keep the reins in your own hands.
Advocaat.be calls for investigation into expulsion of lawyers during drug trial
We request the Supreme Judicial Council (HRJ) to investigate the judicial order to physically remove, with the help of police, two lawyers from the courtroom. This happened on Thursday 18 September 2025 during the major drug trial Kriva Rochem, in which drug boss Flor Bressers, among others, is on trial.
Advocaat.be launches Press Prize 2026: €7,500 for strong journalism on justice

Whistleblowers and lawyers violating money laundering prevention rules: Flemish bar associations open official reporting channels
Anyone who knows or suspects that a lawyer is violating money laundering rules can now easily and safely report it to that lawyer's chief of staff. Each Flemish President of the Bar has set up an external reporting channel. These reporting channels are there for a reason: they stem from the Money Laundering Prevention Act of 2017 and the Whistleblowers Act of 2022.
