Free Lawyers’ Advice Line: free, anonymous, and accessible advice
From January 15th 2026, you can call one central phone number for a short legal question. In this way, advocaat.be brings legal assistance closer to people and makes it easier for everyone to obtain answers.
How the Free Lawyers’ Advice Line works
When you call the Free Lawyers’ Advice Line, you are immediately connected to a lawyer. You receive short, clear, and completely free legal advice for up to 15 minutes.
Need more help? The lawyer will refer you to the appropriate service or a specialised professional.
The advice line is available to everyone: completely free of charge, anonymous, and with no conditions.
The single, unique phone number for all of Flanders represents a major expansion of access to legal aid.
Free help, now also available by phone
The Free Lawyers’ Advice Line is part of first-line legal assistance in Flanders. This type of assistance has existed for some time in justice houses, public social welfare centers (OCMWs), CAWs, social houses, and other locations.
The help you receive there remains the same: a short and clear answer to your question, or an appropriate referral when you need more support.
Not everyone can or feels comfortable going to such a physical location. That is why there is now also a centralized phone line: allowing you to easily, anonymously, and safely speak to a lawyer, wherever you are.
More than just legal advice
Many problems are not only legal in nature. The lawyers at the Free Lawyers’ Advice Line are familiar with the available social and community support services and can refer you to the right organisations for additional assistance.
In this way, the advice line forms an important link between legal and social support services. Moreover, a dedicated application makes the operation of first-line legal assistance simpler and more user-friendly, ensuring that help is available more quickly and easily.
The phone number of the Free Lawyers’ Advice Line is 02 204 36 80.

- Monday to Thursday: 2:30 p.m. – 5:30 p.m.
- Friday: 9:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.
