Apply for the Board of Supervisors as an external member
Are you interested in the deontology and disciplinary law of the legal profession? Then apply to join the Supervisory Board as a non-lawyer.
The Supervisory Board independently supervises the disciplinary practice by, among others, the staff members and the chairpersons of the disciplinary boards. It contributes to the harmonisation, monitoring and promotion of disciplinary practice, the quality and integrity of the legal profession and the proper professional practice of lawyers, in the interests of the legal profession, litigants and society.
The Supervisory Board is composed of:
- the president of the Bar Association of Flanders
- two lawyers
- two non-lawyers
New external member sought
We are looking for a member who is not a lawyer to serve on the Supervisory Board.
In addition, the member who is not a lawyer must:
- not be a member or associate of another body of the Order of Flemish Bars
- not be an associate of a Bar Association
- not be a magistrate
The mandate commences on 1 January 2025 and runs until 1 January 2028.

Then submit your candidature and deliver your cover letter, curriculum vitae and any documents supporting the candidacy to the Order of Flemish Bars for the attention of the board of directors by Monday 2 December 2024 at the latest, via peter.callens@ordevanvlaamsebalies.be.
The board of directors will then nominate the members to the general meeting, which will ultimately appoint the members.
