Marileen Vandenberghe is a late bloomer in the legal profession. She first worked in health care for 20 years and then in the nature, environment and spatial planning sector for 17 years. Later in life, she then started studying law and is now a lawyer at the Antwerp Bar. During her law studies, she became fascinated by immigration law and this is how she ended up as a volunteer at the non-profit organisation Bij Ons Thuis, a volunteer organisation dedicated to the reception, guidance and support of migrants and refugees in Aarschot and the Hageland.
